Jeanne Tan possess dual roles at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. She serves as Assistant Director of Laboratory for Artificial Intelligence in Design (AiDLab) and Associate Professor of Design at the Institute of Textiles & Clothing. She earned her PhD from the Glasgow School of Art, UK.
Jeanne’s work investigates the interface of design and technology. She often utilizes textiles and fashion as a communicative platform; integrating traditional craft and engineering as the syntax of the creation’s narrative. Her research interests include intelligent material design, interactive textiles for well-being, hybrid design processes and smart wearables.
Jeanne’s research had involved working collaboratively with institutions such as Hong Kong Sheng Kong Hui, Society of Rehabilitation and Crime Prevention, HK and Humansa (New World Development). Her design based research had been internationally exhibited at venues such as, Victoria and Albert Museum, UK; London Design Week 2018, Museum Fünf Kontinente, Germany and Today Art Museum, China.
Jeanne is often asked to speak about her research at venues and events such Tedx, the Royal College of Art, UK; Parsons School of Design, USA and Hongik University, Korea. She actively engages with international creative communities and the general public via invited designer residencies. Her design work had been featured in international and regional media such as Harper’s Bazaar, WGSN and Xinhua News. As a design consultant,
Jeanne works with many companies and organizations to implement fashion, textile and creative education solutions. Some of her consultancies include LVMH Group (Celine, Givenchy, Kenzo, Loewe, Marc Jacobs), Nike, Alibaba, CLP Power Hong Kong Limited, The Hong Kong SAR Government (EMSD) and The Hong Kong Red Cross.

As Head of the Textiles Programme at the Royal College of Art, Anne Toomey leads a team of expert specialist staff and over 130 postgraduate students working at the creative interface between materials, making and meaning. Their focus is innovation that impacts and spans across many sectors, exploring new territories for the twenty-first century Textiles specialist.
Under her leadership, the Textiles Programme has established the Soft Systems Research Group whose remit includes the following:

Anne is a textiles specialist with national and international experience in research-based design, product development, manufacture and student centered education. As a design researcher, her research questions and challenges the role of new materials and fabrication technologies in Design for the 21st century.

Dr Wong Wing Chung, Miu
Miu is a part-time design lecturer in different universities, including, POLYU, BUHK, CUSCS, CITA, Raffles International College and OUHK. His specialties are fashion design, CAD for design, visual merchandising and footwear design. He earned his PhD in the Institute of Textiles and Clothing, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

Research Assistant:
Dominic Co
Dominic is a computational designer and research assistant in Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Most recently, he worked in a multidisciplinary team developing a 3D printed artificial coral reef system in Hong Kong and interned at the Media Lab in Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Dominic's research interests lay in machine learning, CAD and 3D printing. He received his BA with First Class Honors in Architecture from the University in Hong Kong.
